Payment & Scheduling Information

Payment for counseling is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Payment for coaching is due one month in advance. |

It is the responsibility of the patient and/or patient’s family to pay for services rendered. Acceptable payment for services is a personal check, a credit card or cash. |

Managed Care Free Practice: |
| |
This practice is managed care free. As such, and is common in this geographical area for mental health services, this provider will not participate on managed care panels. |

Fees: |
| |
Fees are consistent with area norms for similar services. The details of such fees are listed in the table below. NOTE: Please take note that these fees will go into effect for patients who join business coaching or life coaching or psychological testing after July 8, 2008. A primary advantage to joining Dr. Shinaver in his beta version of his coaching program BEFORE JULY 8, 208 is that he will keep his fees at $200 for the initial session and $140 for sessions to follow as long as you begin coaching before July 8, 2008. After July 8, 2008 the fees below will go into effect. |

| Life Coaching & Counseling Fees and Policies: |

| Initial session for either one: $200 |
| |
| Life Coaching fees following the initial session= $180 |
| |
| Coaching can be face to face, over the phone, over a secure internet chat, or an internet video conference. |
| |
| Psychological Testing fees are based upon both time spent administering the tests, scoring them, interpreting the results and writing the report. So the total time for a testing report is likely to be 2 to 3 times the amount of face to face time and possibly more. $160/hour |

Counseling fees following the initial session = $140. Counseling is typically face to face, but might be over the phone. |

| Fees will be paid in advance on a monthly basis for all coaching clients. |
| |
| Also, fees will start to be paid in advance for counseling beginning in Jan. 2009. |

| Promoting Responsibility: |
| |
| Coaching sessions are paid a month in advance. If you need to make up time because you miss or cancel an appointment it is your responsibility to get that scheduled. Your time is precious and so is Dr. Shinaver’s. So, if there is available time to make up cancelled appointments within the same week that is fine. However, it will be the patient’s responsibility to make up the appointment and it will be limited by Dr. Shinaver’s availability. This will help to keep you accountable for this commitment and accountability is a core tenet of coaching and counseling. |

| Why the difference in fees? |

| Given that Dr. Shinaver has worked as a therapist for 19 years and a licensed psychologist for 12 years he has a well developed acumen and set of treatment approaches for Counseling. As such, fees for those services are slightly lower than life coaching fees. |

| Life coaching has been a more recently developed skill set which has required considerable time and money in investment to develop those skills. |
| |
| Furthermore, you are getting a psychologist-coach for your money. This is substantially different than simply a life coach. That is several years more of training, supervision and education were required to get the licensed psychologist credential from highly prestigious universities: Notre Dame, Harvard, and DePaul. So, the hourly fee of $180 may be slightly higher than typical life coaches, but if you have to ‘go remote’ or get an historical understanding of your problem this psychologist-coach is well within his competence and if you need to shift to counseling he is well-prepared to help you. In other words, he is well-trained to help you all the way through this process of growth. |

| Furthermore, this psychologist-coach brings a substantially greater experience with people and the study of psychology than typical life coaches. |

| Business Coaching Fees and Policies: |

| Business coaching is a slightly different animal than life coaching or counseling. Business coaching is for 2 hours a session for the first 8 weeks. In the months that follow appointments are only twice a month with unlimited e-mail (at least for the initial version of this coaching program). Like life coaching these sessions are paid for a month in advance. If you need to make up time because you miss or cancel an appointment it is your responsibility to get that done. Your time is precious and so is Dr. Shinaver’s. So, if there is availability appointments can be made up within the same week otherwise it will be your responsibility to find another time to make up missed time. |

| Keep in mind that business coaching can occur face to face, over the phone, or over the internet with chatting or video conferencing. So, in a pinch you can do your coaching over the phone. |

| The fees for business coaching are influenced by market phenomena as is the prices of all services. One market force is that business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals, etc. can deduct these fees as a professional expense. Secondly, this coaching very much affects the bottom line of the businesses these people run or own. Coaching can often be worth thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions on the bottom line. |

| If you do your homework you will find that $250 an hour is about average for business coaching or possibly below the mean. Keep in mind Dr. Shinaver has practiced as a licensed psychologist for 12 years. He has worked as a consultant before. He has worked as a therapist for 19 years. He comes out of a profound understanding of human beings who have been pushed to the extreme limits of what humans can endure – yes, even further than most business owners!
